TRAUSSE : AN IDYLLIC, RELAXING HOLIDAY LOCATION
Enjoying a sunny, Mediterranean climate, Trausse is truly an idyllic, relaxing holiday location. Surrounded by the world-renowned vineyards of the Minervois, this intimate, peaceful village in the foothills of the Montagne Noir offers the tranquility and unhurried pace of life of a bygone age.
Facilities in Trausse include a well-stocked village shop (literally a few steps away from the villa), wine cellars a hair-dressers, signposted paths, municipal tennis and boules courts.
The village dates back more than a thousand years and was once a fortified hamlet in the time of the infamous Cathar purges . Remains of the stone ramparts and gates are still in evidence and in the central square the tenth century Tour Trencavel continues to dominate the local landscape.
Trausse is the perfect base from which to explore and enjoy the many fascinating sights and attractions that this lovely region of the South of France has to offer. Just minutes away there are more good restaurants, bars, shops, leisure facilities, scores of wonderful wine cellars and, of course, the famous Canal du Midi.
